Sri Raja Rajeswary Temple, Ampang
The Sri Raja Rajeswary Temple, also known as Sri Raja Rajeswary Alayam, is a prominent Hindu temple situated in Ampang, Selangor, Malaysia. Established in 1973, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Sri Raja Rajeswary, a revered deity in Hinduism.
Historical Background:
The temple was founded by the late Mr. K. Suppiah, a Research Assistant, with support from staff of the Ampang Rubber Research Institute of Malaysia. The foundation stone was laid by the then MIC President, Tun Manikavasagam, on November 15, 1974, with a grant of RM30,000 from the Selangor State Government in 1975. The initial statues of Sri Raja Rajeswary, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Muruga were sculpted by Devokottai Muthukaruppar of Tamil Nadu
Architectural Features:
Perched on a hill slope, the temple offers a unique duplex structure. It is flanked by the Sungai Ampang river and surrounded by sacred neem, pipal, and vilva trees, enhancing its spiritual ambiance.
